Erosion Report and Petition to Scottish
Parliament There were no destructive seas over the winter of 1999- 2000 but the path in front of the Caves is still in a poor state and the "Doocot Corner" has not improved. The Society has a Petition for help passing through various Committees of the Scottish Parliament. So far it is believed that the sewer wall has been transferred to Fife Council. This has been another year of uncertain access to the Caves and it is hoped to solve this problem soon. |

| Millennium Seat With help from Fife Council, a Millenium seat, with a small plaque, was installed beside the Interpretation Boards down below Weavers Court. This was unveiled in June by Patrick Lauchlan, Chief Executive of the Kingdom of Fife Tourist Board. |
Barbecue The Barbecue was held in July with very pleasant weather. Over 150 people gathered on the shore and there were several guided tours of the Caves and an excellent piece of drama by students from St Andrews University's Caer Caledon Society, who acted the sad tale of James VI and his wife Anne of Denmark. |

| Open
Sundays These have been very successful. The last Open Sunday was part of Scottish Archaeological Month and the visitor numbers were the best ever 130, with the Car Park full, and five tours to the Caves. Some came from Nottingham and others from Inverness. The Sunday included an invitation to previous Wemyss Guides. |
Millennium Project and the Lottery Grant A joint project was again embarked upon by SWACS with the Wemyss Preservation Group with a grant of £550 from the Lottery "Awards for All". The book "East Wemyss Worthies Remembered" was launched in November in East Wemyss Public Library by Mr Pat Toner, one of the oldest ex-residents of Wemyss. It is already almost a sell out. |

Visit of the Scottish Finance Minister Jack McConnell Bill Barker and Ann Watters met Jack McConnell and presented him with "East Wemyss Remembered" when he came to view the need for Coastal protection in Dysart and Wemyss, hoping that the Caves problem would be included. |
